And, in every case, they failed.<\/p>\n<p>Chappelle&#8217;s contract with Netflix got renewed after his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodintoto.com\/dave-chappelle-closer-reviews-bigoted-transphobic\/\">2021 streaming special, &#8220;The Closer,&#8221; e<\/a>nraged far-Left activists. Barr joined the podcast revolution and is playing gigs at Joe Rogan&#8217;s Comedy Mothership club after one racially-charged Tweet ended her Hollywood career.<\/p>\n<p>Gillis hosted &#8220;Saturday Night Live&#8221; over the weekend, roughly five years after the NBC sketch show fired him for telling problematic jokes. He&#8217;s grown exponentially more successful since the firing.<\/p>\n<p>Cancel Culture still has some clout, especially <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodintoto.com\/seattle-club-cancels-unwoke-comics-metzger-gomez-smith-florentine\/\">among the easily triggered.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>Warning: Adult language ahead.<\/em><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">I\u2019m sorry, but this is too funny not to immediately put on blast! Gomez, Jim Florentine and Dave Smith &#8211; just got &#8220;un-booked&#8221; at Capitol Hill Comedy \/ Bar in Seattle. The club&#8217;s booker\/owner, Jes Anderson, claimed the decision came after hearing feedback from &#8220;local advocacy groups that are deeply embedded in our community and work towards upholding its values.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Comedian Lou Perez of \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodintoto.com\/lou-perez-comedy-is-murder-interview\/\">Comedy Is Murder<\/a>\u201d fame had a sense of deja vu after hearing the news.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c&#8217;Clubs are still doing this?&#8217; I thought. Which in a way is a positive,&#8221; Perez told Hollywood in Toto.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The booker didn\u2019t do herself any favors. &#8216;Cancel culture&#8217; aside, from a professional standpoint a booker should know the comedians she\u2019s booking\u2014 especially in this case of four comics with such large audiences,&#8221; Perez added.<\/p>\n<p>He noted that Gomez took the cancellation in stride, saying he already had gigs at other local clubs. This won&#8217;t stop, or even slow down, the &#8220;Legion of Skanks&#8221; podcaster&#8217;s professional momentum.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;They can simply be right and move on,&#8221; Perez said of the comedy quartet. &#8220;Which they will do to much (continued) success.&#8221;<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">I wish I could laugh, but That Joke Isn&#39;t Funny Anymore&#8230; <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/FoCjejKzga\">https:\/\/t.co\/FoCjejKzga<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/Trt08g27o9\">pic.twitter.com\/Trt08g27o9<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Lou Perez (@TheLouPerez) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TheLouPerez\/status\/1743798604647784524?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 7, 2024<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Steve \u201cMudflap\u201d McGrew knows all too well what it means to be canceled.<\/p>\n<p>He\u2019s been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodintoto.com\/steve-mcgrew-toxic-masculinity\/\">blacklisted by club owner\/\u201cEverybody Loves Raymond\u201d alum Brad Garrett<\/a> as well as two Colorado comedy clubs (Comedy Works and Loonees Comedy Club in Colorado Springs).<\/p>\n<p>So the conservative comic has little patience for Anderson&#8217;s decision.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I hope the club goes belly up, the empty building burns down from drug addicts using it to shoot up with the free needles the city gives them and the shell of the business is bulldozed down. Then the bricks are washed and used to build a new church for better humans than the ones who owned the club,&#8221; McGrew told HiT.<\/p>\n<p>Other comedians lashed out at the club via social media, including &#8220;Gutfeld!&#8221; regular Tyrus.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-conversation=\"none\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Their afraid of the one woke diversity hire that\u2019s triggered\u2026 friendly advice book in another venue close to that town sell out kill it and in three months when they fire the idiot\u2026 when they tell you it\u2019s all good to come back send them the same email !<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Tyrus (@PlanetTyrus) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/PlanetTyrus\/status\/1761249351358116067?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 24, 2024<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><script async=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Metzger laughed about the decision via his X account, but he <a href=\"https:\/\/mynorthwest.com\/3952217\/rantz-seattle-comedy-club-canceled-comics-over-offended-activists\/\"  rel=\"noopener\">expanded on his thoughts<\/a> as co-host of &#8220;The Jimmy Dore Show.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">Metzger mocked the venue\u2019s decision with the host for \u201cpracticing group think.\u201d The comedian laughed at Anderson for claiming his comedy doesn\u2019t represent the values of the community, noting residents put up with homeless who defecate on Seattle sidewalks, but can\u2019t handle jokes they don\u2019t like. He predicted the club will go out of business. But he did note that he is not upset and doesn\u2019t want to see her fail. Indeed, he tells the Jason Rantz Show on KTTH that he wants to help her by pointing out the absurdity of her decision. Following her Feb. 24 show at The Dojo of Comedy in Morris Plains, N.J.. someone pepper sprayed her and people around her.<\/p>\n<p>Other comedians may not have heard about the cancellations.
