SEMA is just around the corner, meaning that the ridiculous and over-the-top concept cars are about to start coming fast and loose. Stellantis is getting out of the gates early with a teaser for a show car that will likely be electrified.
Specifically, its Mopar brand of aftermarket parts is the one teasing an upcoming project. While the single image shared of the upcoming model makes it hard to know for sure what the brand has up its sleeve, it would appear that it will be based around a classic vehicle such as the secon-generation Dodge Charger or Coronet.
The louvered hood vents are, of course, not stock. However, they’re an important part of this teaser, because they reveal a glint of blue under the hood, that could hint at an electric or electrified powertrain.

Blue is the color used by Jeep’s electrified models, and Mopar has previously worked on 4xe plug-in hybrid concepts. However, the biggest hint that the concept vehicle will be electrified comes from Mopar’s choice of language in promoting it. “A serious charge is coming,” Mopar writes, adding that fans should “get ready for a jolt.”
It makes sense that Mopar would be working with an electric (or at least hybrid) vehicle, since Stellantis is on the verge of launching a major EV offensive. From the Ram Revolution 1500 to the Dodge Charger Daytona concept, rechargeable vehicles are just around the corner.
With their reputation for making enthusiast-oriented vehicles, and their focus on models that owners like to customize, in concert with Dodge’s revival of the Direct Connection aftermarket brand, Stellantis’ American brands seem to be focusing on appealing to exactly the type of consumer who might be interested in what Mopar is up to at SEMA.
