Oscar and Emmy-winning actress Kathy Bates has announced her plans to retire from acting after her upcoming role in CBS’ Matlock remake. In an interview with The New York Times, Bates revealed her decision to step away from the spotlight, calling the legal drama her last dance. The veteran actress admitted she had considered retiring earlier, particularly after an unpleasant experience on a film set in 2023. Reflecting on the emotional toll her career has taken, Bates said, It becomes my life. Sometimes I get jealous of having this talent. Because I cant hold it back, and I just want my life. Her passion for acting often consumed her, leaving little room for anything else.
