A Voyage into the Unknown – ‘Space: The Longest Goodbye’ Doc Trailer
"We all start wondering if we're doing the right thing." Greenwich Ent. has revealed the official trailer for a documentary film titled Space: The Longest Goodbye, which originally premiered at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival one year ago. The film explores an experiment and the possibility of sending people to Mars and how it will psychologically affect astronauts gone for so long. "Social isolation affects millions of people, even Mars-bound astronauts. A savvy NASA psychologist is tasked with protecting these daring explorers." In the next decade, NASA will send astronauts to Mars for the first time. Separated from Earth, and unable to communicate with the ground, crew members will experience extreme isolation that could gravely affect their 3-year journey. This Sundance documentary follows a savvy NASA psychologist tasked with protecting daring space explorers. I watched this one last year and it's very good: "Somber and emotional and candid. Meant to be more contemplative and considerate than explanatory." Worth watching if you're a space nerd.

First Look Teaser for ‘Veni Vidi Vici’ Film Premiering at Sundance 2024
"Go ahead and run! I know what you look like!" Magnify Films has revealed the first look teaser trailer for a Sundance film called Veni Vidi Vici, from filmmakers Daniel Hoesl & Julia Niemann. This Austrian film is premiering in the "World Cinema Dramatic Competition" section at Sundance 2024 this month. Apparently it's commentary on the uber-rich, using a familiar idea in The Hunt and/or the classic "The Most Dangerous Game". The Maynards and their children lead an almost perfect billionaire family life. Amon is a passionate hunter, but doesn’t shoot animals, as the family's wealth allows them to live totally free from consequences. So he hunts humans. The cast includes Laurence Rupp, Ursina Lardi, Olivia Goschler, Kyra Kraus, Tamaki Uchida, and Dominik Warta. The filmmaker explains why: "The situation is serious... To create a parable, you have to exaggerate, paradoxically enough." This looks disquieting, with much more stronger commentary worked in about how these super rich assholes can get away with anything. Scary. Really scary.

First Trailer for ‘Lola’ – Starring & Directed by Nicola Peltz Beckham
"I am the person I am today because of the people that help me... and the people that hurt me." Vertical has revealed the official trailer for a film titled Lola, marking the feature directorial debut of actress Nicola Peltz Beckham (formerly known just Nicola Peltz - most will recognize her from her role in Transformers: Age of Extinction or on "Bates Motel"). Not to be confused with the other indie sci-fi film titled Lola from last year, this is an entirely different one. Peltz Beckham also stars as the titular Lola James. Lola works to save enough money to get her little brother, Arlo, out of their toxic home. Arlo keeps her hopeful, until one tragic night, when her whole world gets uprooted. From that moment on, nothing will ever be the same. The cast includes Virginia Madsen, Trevor Long, Luke David Blumm, Raven Goodwin, Sunil Narkar, Stephen Graybill, Richie Merritt, and Kevin Toms. Doesn't look half bad, but seems like a festival film that apparently has not shown at any festivals - with cliche drama and asshole parents ...
Official Trailer for Don Lee’s ‘Badland Hunters’ Post-Apoc Action Film
"Hey, get a grip. These things aren't human." Another undead action movie. Netflix has revealed the main official trailer for a Korean post-apocalyptic action movie called Badland Hunters, arriving for streaming later in January. "One last hunt to save us all." Years after Seoul turns into an apocalyptic wasteland, a tough huntsman takes matters into his own hands when a teenager he’s close to is abducted by a mad doctor who conducts experiments on humans. Nam San battles formidable foes in the wilderness with an array of weapons, from bare fists to rifles, with the intense action choreography that is a hallmark of Director Heo Myeong-haeng's stunt work. Don Lee (Ma Dong-seok - Korea's "Dwayne Johnson" seen in Train to Busan, The Outlaws, and The Eternals) stars as Nam San, with Lee Hee Jun, plus Lee Jun-young as his trusted partner, Choi ji-wan. Alas there's no big 'gator in this trailer, as seen in the first teaser trailer, but this still looks like a good time. Plenty of post-apocalyptic action to keep us all entertained for 1 hour & 47 ...
Watch: Auralnauts Presents ‘Zack Snyder’s Star Wars: Part 1’ Remix
"I sense something. A presence I've not felt since..." A few days ago, in a YouTube channel not far away, the comedy masterminds known as the Auralnauts released their latest creation. They have revealed a video called Zack Snyder's Star Wars: Part 1 - A New Hope, an amusing remix of Star Wars updating it for more modern Netflix audiences. Just what it needs! Ha. This video takes us through most of the plot of A New Hope in only about 12 minutes. As expected with a Zack Snyder nod, there's plenty of slow motion and epic music rocking the most intense action moments. Even an extensive flashback sequence. There are also some extra voices provided by the creators: Monty plays both Darth Vader and the Emperor, and C3PO is voiced by Auralnauts Craven and Lord Edmund Bryll. This is all just a joke, of course, it's a good one that Auralnauts seems to have put some time & effort into creating. And it's only Part 1 – we'll see Part 2? Right?
Thanks to Twitter for the tip on this. ...
Trailer for Action Thriller ‘Lights Out’ with Frank Grillo & Mekhi Phifer
"We need to end this." Quiver has revealed an official trailer for an action movie called Lights Out, the latest from filmmaker Christian Sesma reteaming with Dermot Mulroney & Scott Adkins after making Section 8 in 2022. This will be opening in both theaters and digital starting in February next month. A drifting ex-soldier turns underground fighter with the help of a just released ex-con, which ends up pitting them both against corrupt cops and hired killers gunning for them and all those they care about. Pretty much everyone is out to get them! The cast features Frank Grillo, Mekhi Phifer, Jaime King, with Dermot Mulroney and Scott Adkins, as well as Amaury Nolasco, Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone, Erica Peeples, Juju Chan Szeto, and Paul Sloan. This "action-packed thrill ride" actually looks solid, better than expected if I'm honest. A seriously intense throwback to the all-out, non-stop action the entire time, 90s heydays. Fire it up.

Tracee Ellis Ross & Bel Powley in Reporter Thriller ‘Cold Copy’ Trailer
"It doesn't matter the bridges that you burn to get there... Do what has to be done." Vertical has unveiled an official trailer for a thriller titled Cold Copy, arriving at the end of January to watch. This one originally premiered at the 2023 Tribeca Film Festival last year, and also at the Deauville American Film Festival. An ambitious journalism student falls under the compelling thrall of an esteemed yet cutthroat news reporter whom she's desperate to impress, even if it means manipulating her latest story... and the very idea of truth itself. This journalism thriller stars Tracee Ellis Ross, Bel Powley, and Jacob Tremblay as the kid she tries to profile, along with James Tupper, Nesta Cooper, Ekaterina Baker, and more. The film's writer / director Roxine Helberg stated: "In making my first feature, I set out to explore the personal cost of the manipulation of truth." This doesn't look so bad, an engaging cast telling an intriguing story - worth a look.

Prison Escape Movie ‘Bosco’ Trailer Starring Aubrey Joseph as Bosco
"Humans are the greatest weakness in any security system." Peacock has revealed an official trailer for a film called Bosco, a prison escape thriller based on a true story. Finally something that might just live up to the classic Escape from Alcatraz! Hopefully. Based on the true story of Quawntay "Bosco" Adams, who also produced the film. Sentenced to 35 years for attempted possession of marijuana, Adams miraculously escaped from a Federal maximum-security prison in 2006 while under 24-hour surveillance in solitary with the help of a woman he met through a lonely-hearts ad. This features a compelling cast including Aubrey Joseph as "Bosco", Nikki Blonsky as "Tammy", Tyrese Gibson as "Tootie", Vivica A. Fox as "Willa", Theo Rossi as "Ramos", and Thomas Jane as "Hunt". Bosco will feature original music from leading hip-hop artists, including Snoop Dogg, French Montana, The Game, DDG, & more. Looks solid though probably not a new prison escape classic. I'm still very, very curious to see how he got out - what he did to sneak out.

Gina Rodriguez & Damon Wayans Jr. in Raunchy ‘Players’ Film Trailer
"It was never about the plays, it was about being with the people who 'get' you." Netflix has revealed an official trailer for a raunchy New York City romantic comedy film called Players, the latest from filmmaker Trish Sie (of Pitch Perfect 3, The Sleepover, Sitting in Bars with Cake). This is indeed about the "player" culture of super hot hookups and one-night-stands, where a woman helps guys with "plays" until he realizes he wants more than just one-night-stands. Of course, this is the same story they've been telling for decades. New York sportswriter Mack has spent years devising successful hook-up "plays" with her friends, but when she unexpectedly falls for one of her high society targets, she must learn what it takes to go from simply scoring to "playing for keeps." What a pitch. Gina Rodriguez stars as Mack, along with Damon Wayans Jr., Joel Courtney, Augustus Prew, Liza Koshy, Ego Nwodim, Marin Hinkle, and Tom Ellis. This is the kind of raunchy comedy that used to be a big studio movie, now it's streaming on Netflix in February.

Another Trailer for Plane Crash Underwater Survival Film ‘No Way Up’
"What's a shark doing on a plane?!" Good question. Anyone know why? RLJE Films in the US has unveiled another new official trailer the bonkers survival thriller movie called No Way Up, made by a Swiss action director named Claudio Fäh. RLJE has also confirmed a US release date of February 16th, in theaters and on VOD to watch at home. No Way Up is a high concept combination of disaster movie and survival thriller. It's not just about a horrifying plane crash, it's about what would happen if a plane crashed into the ocean and somehow people onboard survived in an air pocket as it sunk to the bottom. No, thank you. Don't like that. Hell no. The main ensemble cast includes Colm Meaney, Phyllis Logan, Sophie McIntosh, Will Attenborough, and Jeremias Amoore. Of course they're trying to market it as "Sharks on a Plane!" This trailer is similar to the other UK trailer we posted a few months ago, though they've also dropped a fun new shark-filled poster - and all of it looks so ridiculous. I might ...
