"Something happened, and he came back as a different person." Saban Films has revealed an official trailer for a crime thriller titled Kane from Australia, opening in the US soon this fall. Haven't heard much about this one, yet another mediocre crime thriller getting thrown into the "content" pile this year. Benny works for old school crime boss Abe, though Abe has multiple personalities and is in a gang war with the notorious Frankie. Kane is the deadliest of Abe's personalities, and the next 24 hours will be a killer. Today is a good day to die. "Kane is a gripping dark thriller that explores the blurred lines of loyalty and identity." The split personalities twist in this is so uninteresting, doesn't seem they know what to do with it. Kane stars Jeremy Lindsay Taylor, Jake Ryan, Clayton Watson, Nathan Phillips, Tammin Sursok, Holly Brisley, and Peter O'Hanlon as Big Stan. None of this looks good, unfortunately, and it's annoyingly under lit, too. "Now what?" "Would you like to go to the cinema?" Any fans of awkward romance must watch this. Mubi has unveiled their official trailer for Aki Kaurismäki's latest film Fallen Leaves, his light-hearted romantic tragicomedy that first premiered at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival. Two lonely people who meet each other by chance in the Helsinki night, until then can't find each other again. "With this film, Kaurismäki tips his hat to Bresson, Ozu and Chaplin, wanting to tell a story about the things that may lead humanity to a future: longing for love, solidarity, hope, and respect for another human being, nature and anything living or dead." Starring Alma Pöysti and Jussi Vatanen. The film was initially inspired by the song “Les feuilles mortes" (translates to "Dead Leaves”), composed by Joseph Kosma with lyrics by Jacques Prévert. "She just got me and I trusted her." A24 has debuted a new behind-the-scenes featurette for Sofia Coppola's Priscilla, her superb film about Priscilla and Elvis Presley. This premiered at the 2023 Venice Film Festival last month, winning the key Best Actress prize for star Cailee Spaeny. Through Priscilla's eyes, Sofia Coppola tells the unseen side of a great American myth in Elvis and Priscilla's long courtship and turbulent marriage, from a German army base to his dream-world estate at Graceland, in this deeply felt & ravishingly detailed portrait of love, fantasy, and fame. Cailee Spaeny stars as Priscilla, with Jacob Elordi as Elvis Presley, and an ensemble cast including Raine Monroe Boland, Dagmara Domińczyk, Emily Mitchell, Jorja Cadence, Rodrigo Fernandez-Stoll, and Luke Humphrey. Netflix has debuted the full official trailer for the animated movie Leo, available in November this fall. 🦎 This is a Happy Madison production from Adam Sandler for Netflix, but it's also a sneaky TV Funhouse presentation from "SNL". Comedian Robert Smigel co-wrote and co-directed this film with his fellow animators from SNL - Robert Marianetti & David Wachtenheim. The film is about a jaded 74-year-old lizard named Leo, who has been stuck in the same Florida classroom for decades with his terrarium-mate turtle. When he learns he only has one year left to live, he plans to escape to experience life on the outside. Adam Sandler voices Leo, and they animated him to look like Sandler, which is quite amusing. "Where is that bastard?" Netflix has released this Korean action film streaming already. Ballerina is the latest film made by Korean filmmaker Chung-Hyun Lee. It premiered at the Busan Film Fest and launched for streaming on October 6th this fall. "Cold-hearted and cruel, the hell of merciless revenge begins now, for my one and only." Grieving the loss of a best friend she couldn't protect, an ex-bodyguard sets out to fulfill her dear friend's last wish: sweet revenge. Jang Ok-ju is a former bodyguard who sets out to hunt down a sex trafficking ring headed by Choi Pro. Starring Jeon Jong-seo as Jang Ok-ju, with Kim Ji-hoon, Park Yu-rim, Shin Se-hwi, plus Kim Mu-yeol, Jang Yoon-ju, Kim Young-ok, and Joo Hyun. This reminds me of Kill Boksoon, another female-driven action film quietly dropped on Netflix earlier this year.
