‘Out on a Limb’ Featurette for Guadagnino’s ‘Challengers’ Tennis Film

"I loved making this film. It's a rollercoaster... and you feel that." MGM Studios has revealed a featurette for Challengers, the latest film from filmmaker Luca Guadagnino (of A Bigger Splash, Call Me By Your Name, Suspiria, Bones and All). It's finally landing in theaters this month! Following a long delay from last year. After a losing streak, the wife and coach of a Grand Slam champion signs him up for a Challenger event where he will face off against her former lover – and his former competitor. The full cast includes Zendaya, Josh O'Connor, and Mike Faist as the trio caught up in this lovers' quarrel, plus A.J. Lister and Jake Jensen. The two official trailers for this have been mostly good, this featurette adds a bit more context to Tashi, Zendaya's character, though there isn't much footage as it's less than 60 seconds long. We'll add more featurettes below for Challengers as they're unveiled. Looking forward to finally seeing this in a few weeks. Full Trailer for Detroit Pool Thriller Film ‘Break’ Starring Darren Weiss

"Le's play." "Double it this time." Gravitas has unveiled an official trailer for an indie pool hall thriller titled Break, which is a rather obvious pool reference when you "break" the game at the start. This will be getting a limited theatrical release later in April, though it hasn't played at any festivals. In the film, Eli learns that his absent father was a Detroit pool hall legend. He journeys into the Detroit Pool scene, and must confront the realities and dangers of the game, along with his own demons. Michigan-native actor Darren Weiss stars as Eli, joined by Braedyn Bruner as Millie, Victor Rasuk, Jeff Kober, Patricia Belcher, Caleb Emery, Suzen Baraka, Uriah Shelton, Wendy Braun, and Rick Fitts. This looks pretty rough, but it's nice to see a pool movie again, feels like it has been a while since there was one out in theaters. Check it out. Here's the official trailer (+ two posters) for Will Wernick's Break, direct from Gravitas' YouTube: The film follows Eli (early 20s) as he juggles two jobs, tries to juggle taking care of ...

New Re-Release Trailer for Lee Chang-Dong’s ‘Oasis’ Film from 2002

"It's about time you grew up." Film Movement has revealed a brand new official trailer for a 4K restoration and re-release of a cult classic Korean indie film from 2002. Oasis was the third feature made by Korean auteur Lee Chang-dong, who later went on to make a splash worldwide with his film Burning in 2018. In this film Oasis, an irresponsible and childish ex-con fresh out of prison befriends a girl with cerebral palsy and develops a progressively stronger bond with her. Co-starring Sol Kyung-gu and Moon So-ri. Winner of the Silver Lion for Best Director and Best Young Actress at the Venice Film Festival, Lee Chang-dong's Oasis is a "brave film" that "shows two people who find any relationship almost impossible, and yet find a way to make theirs work." (From a positive Roger Ebert review.) It was also South Korea's official entry for Best Foreign Language Film at the 75th Academy Awards in 2003. Time to catch up if you've never seen it. This one definitely seems to be for cinephiles only, so it's nice to see ...

China’s Crazy Remake of Giant Snake Movie ‘Anaconda’ Official Trailer

"This isn't your territory. It's their territory." Another international remake of a Hollywood classic! China has already remade the 1997 action-horror film about giant snakes called Anaconda, which was a huge hit when it debuted in the 90s. This new version is similar but follows a group of circus performers stranded in a rainforest. They must figure out how to survive when they discover they're marked as bait for the snakes. This Chinese remake stars Terence Yin, Nita Xia, Paul Che, Jiu Kong, Ken Lok, Wang Xing Chen, Wang Gang, Wang Zi Run, Xu Shao Hang, and Wu Hao. The original movie ended up with a few bad direct-to-video sequels (including Lake Placid vs. Anaconda in 2015) and Hollywood has also been trying to reboot it with screenwriter Evan Daugherty (of Snow White and the Huntsman, Killing Season, Divergent) hired to write a new script. Until then, this Chinese version might be just as ridiculously entertaining as the original, which infamously had a dead Jon Voight winking. Yes, this trailer does have English subtitles in it. Here's the full trailer (+ ...

Freaky Trailer for Netflix’s ‘Woody Woodpecker Goes to Camp’ Movie

"This might hurt a little..." Netflix has revealed an official trailer for a movie called Woody Woodpecker Goes to Camp, another strange hybrid-CGI creation involving the classic animated character Woody Woodpecker (first created in 1940). This looks as weird and wacky as anything can, almost freaky, because it's so absurd and dumb. There was another really bad Woody Woodpecker: The Movie in 2017 as well, now Netflix has their own for everyone to laugh at. Technically this is a sequel to that direct-to-video movie. In Woody Woodpecker Goes To Camp, Woody Woodpecker must find a new home after being kicked out of the forest. At Camp Woo Hoo, he thinks he's found a forever home, but there's an inspector on the loose who wants to shut down the camp. Starring Eric Bauza as the voice of Woody, with Mary-Louise Parker, Josh Lawson, Chloe De Los Santos, Esther Son, Evan Stanhope, Kevin Michael Richardson as Buzz Buzzard + Tom Kenny as Wally Walrus. Will this even be fun to watch? Or just painful? Hard to tell. Official trailer (+ poster) for Rosenbaum's ...

Another Behind-the-Scenes Look at Alex Garland’s ‘Civil War’ Movie

"They're risking their lives to show the world what happened." A24 has revealed a new behind-the-scenes featurette for Alex Garland's Civil War movie, his next new action thriller arriving in theaters in April. It's about a fictional (or not?) civil war in America following a crew of photojournalists on a "road trip" around America. After the two previous trailers for this movie, this preview finally reveals that it's actually about the journalists and really focused on them, not the details of the civil war and/or why it's happening. Still not so sure about this concept right now. "It felt immersive and it felt incredibly real, and it was chilling." The excellent ensemble cast for Garland's Civil War includes Kirsten Dunst, Wagner Moura, Cailee Spaeny, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Karl Glusman, Sonoya Mizuno, Jonica T. Gibbs, Jess Matney, plus Jesse Plemons. It is a better "come watch this movie" promo than the other trailers, playing up how big and immersive it really is, featuring the entire cast talking about working on it. Fire it up below. Here's the extra "First Look" featurette for ...
